Bringing back the grunge look

November 7, 2009

Take a trip on the fashion era merry-go-round and you’ll see we’ve traveled back not too far. Hello nineties grunge revival!

The leather jacket, the ripped tights and the flannel plaid says it all. If you want to incorporate this look into your wardrobe it won’t cost you much!

Be creative and take a walk on the wild side and search for the best pieces at consignment and thrift stores in the area.

The Salvation Army, Goodwill and Wise Penny are all places will offer unique clothing to give you the punk rock look.

I couldn’t help but notice the oversized accessories I’ve spotted in Baltimore.  Larger than normal necklaces, big cocktail rings and even the extra large bangles.

For those who want to stand out with big accessories, take it up a notch with a Max & Chloe’s Blu Bijoux cabochon rings. Available in an assortment of colors, these rings will surely make your outfit pop.

Add a bold necklace to a plain tee so you can look fierce walking in downtown Baltimore.  Try something like layered chain links.

Have a tight budget? You can still stock up on the accessories you love for less at stores like Forever 21, H&M and local boutiques.  Transform your summer floral accessories into a fall look with something like Forever 21’s purple necklace (perfect for Baltimore Ravens fans!)

If you’ve got a great accessory or accessory store Baltimoreans should know about, share them here!

Baltimore style, hon

September 11, 2009

When most people think of high fashion, they think of the city– as in New York City.

Manhattan offers everything and more.  The fashion district, designer headquarters New York Fashion Week, and now we can add to the list: Fashion’s Night Out.

Don’t get me wrong, New York is an amazing city, but smaller cities across the coast are often overlooked when it comes establishing the title of ‘stylish.’

We may not have a Bryant Park or Fifth Avenue to showcase our seasonal trends but we’ve got the Inner Harbor and the greater Baltimore area to show off our East Coast style.

And for those who may not know, we also have Baltimore Fashion Week. It’s perfect for our stylish Baltimoreans who can come out and support local designers and boutiques.

Take a look at the snapshot below and you’ll see Baltimoreans have more style than you think. This student had an electic thought in mind before she left her house.
