Bibs aren’t for babies

Vera Wang runway look

Bib necklaces have dominated the runways this season and are pieces of jewelry everyone should have.

The ultra oversized necklaces are perfect to help make any bland outfit pop. And the best part is, you don’t have to pay the runway price for a necklace like this!

Check out various bib necklaces from Charlotte Russe and Forever 21.

And the winner is…

Thank you to everyone who entered Bmore in Style’s Accessory Giveaway! Everyone had such great responses about describing their style and what their inspired by.

Unfortunately, I could only pick one winner and I literally put the entries in a hat and pulled out a name. Congrats to Kelly Schraf! She will be receiving the accessory of her choice from Forever 21.

Fashion U part three: Inside the Teen Vogue fashion closet

October 30, 2009

When I was a little girl I used to daydream of one day having a walk-in closet so big I could live there. I would literally live, eat and sleep fashion. In fact, I still daydream about the day I have my own huge walk-in closet.

As one of my seminars, I signed up to go on the Teen Vogue editorial floor tour where I got to see a behind-the-scenes look at where my favorite magazine is made each month.

Teen Vogue fashion market editor Mary Kate Steinmiller and fashion assistant Justin Berkowitz showed Fashion U students memorable places in the office as well shared magazine secrets.

I got to see offices of the editors, including editor-in-chief Amy Astley’s office… the art department and production area, the beauty closet and the what they consider the “heart and soul” of the magazine… the fashion closet.

Check out some photos I took from the editorial floor tour!

Fashion University recap part one

October 26, 2009

Words cannot describe just how amazing my trip to NYC & Teen Vogue’s Fashion University was… which is why I’m recapping it with pictures!

I got to meet Teen Vogue editors, fashion designers, stylists and people in the marketing/business of fashion. It was a weekend well-spent making great networking connections, meeting other aspiring editors, learning about the fashion world from the best in the business and all while looking stylish!

Take a look at some pictures from the Juicy Couture retail event I attended on Friday night. Stay tuned for more photos from the seminars I attended and video of our keynote speaker Diane von Furstenberg!

I loved this chandelier that the staircase wrapped around.

Me and my knight in shining armor… Juicy Couture armor that is!

PA231452This is me after I made a purchase. I found a pair of black suede ‘mary jane’ heels with studs on the strap. (I will post pics of them soon!) They were originally $325 but they were on sale for $156 Good deal, eh?

Eye for style

So I have a confession.

I have an obsession with reality television shows… I mean, gosh, who doesn’t?

Except my obsession of reality tv are the few shows that feature top designers, stylists and celebrities.

For those who love those competitive shows like Project Runway or America’s Next Top Model, then you will love the new show Styl’d premiering November 1st on MTV.

Featuring one of the top styling agencies in the country, Margaret Maldonado Agency, five junior styling assistants will compete to win a contract with MMA and be well on their way to success.

Check out the dramatic trailer.  I’m sold!

Countdown to Fashion U

So I am literally marking X’s on my calendar as I anxiously wait for October 23rd, or in other words, the kick-off for Teen Vogue’s Fashion University 2009.

Last year I went and it was an amazing networking experience. I got to meet holy fashion designers and magazine editors right in the heart of New York City.

This year, there will be seminars featuring designers Kimora Lee Simmons (the designer for Baby Phatt), Derek Lam, Thakoon, Cynthia Rowley, Rebecca Minkoff and so many others.

I already signed up for the seminars I want to attend and I am so eager to meet Eric Daman, the costume designer for the hit show Gossip Girl. I also get to listen to Frances Pennington, a marketer for Juicy Couture which for me is a HUGE deal because Juicy Couture is one of my favorite brands. In addition to getting a tour of Teen Vogue offices, I also get to listen to fashion & style bloggers.

And, to celebrate beforehand, Juicy Couture is hosting a special retail kick-off event at their flagship store on 5th Avenue. H&M is also hosting a special retail event the following evening.

So now the most important question is, what should I wear?
